The actual fabric is more colorful than what the manufacturers photos show. The brown color is really a strong sepia color with red tones and there is more of this fabric than what appears online. This is the primary color but only be a little bit. The teal has a little bit more teal “blue” tint and the green is a very pretty olive color with light and medium tones. Overall, this fabric is very pretty and is more colorful than the picture shows.

This mottle fabric is saturated and beautiful! The actual fabric is closest to the first two photos and is not nearly as dark overall as the third photo shows. This fabric is mostly blue and dark gray/black. It has hints of bright green, purple, mauve-pink, rusty peach, and gray/tan/indigo where the colors meld together. It’s a strongly colors batik that would work well as a main fabric or on a backing.

In person this fabric is lighter and has more highlights like it shows in the first two photos. It’s not a solidly saturated as the third photo shows. This fabric does contain dark areas throughout as seen in the first two photos that are a normal part of this fabric.

This fabric is light, soft looking and has a creamy mauve-pink and yellow-tan color in it like the first two photos show. The third (manufacturers) photo appears to be over-saturated. This fabric has a distinct colors in it that are not too mottled, thus the white areas between the colors.

This fabric appears closest in color and lightness to the first two photos and is not as dark or as gray as the third photo shows. It has multiple soft colorations in it including: dusty tan-peach, warm drab gray with a slight green undertone, darker gray with pink undertone, dry light Victorian purple and mottled colors that are in between. This fabric is similar to Hoffman 1384-646 Canyon Mottle but with more color in lighter shades. Very pretty like a desert sunrise!

UPDATE: The current bolt of fabric appears closest to the first two photos and is light with gray-green with hints of tan-cream watercolor. They white baclground has very very light gray-green undertone. They parts of this fabric that appear white in the background are really more of a light gray-green color. The fifth photo is a comparison of two different previous Seamist dye lots with the oldest fabric on the left and the next newest fabric on the right. The current dye lot (photos 1 & 2) is not as washed-out as previous dye lot (photos 3 & 4). There are some strong areas of darker gray-green throughout the fabric as well as hints of yellow-tan.

The first four photos are ones that I took and the fifth photo is the manufacturers thumbnail image. This is a reference to show the variations in the batik colors. The current fabric looks closest to the first two photos and is not as dry or cold brown as the fifth photo or as saturated as photos 3 and 4. This mottle has has warm rusty colored browns, oranges, and pinks in it. The darker cold brown has a slight purple undertone.
***PLEASE READ: UPDATE 07/30/23: The latest bolt of this fabric is brighter, more saturated and with more distinct areas of color in the fabric, like the first two photos show. It also has more white in the fabric like the 3rd and 4th photos show. This bolt of fabric is not as soft and overall the has a little bit more pink coloration in it.
