Prayer Page
Prayer is sincere conversation that connects us to the God who created us. It can be filled with thanks and praise, be a solemn act of confession/forgiveness, or a be a lifeline of hope when we feel crushed beyond our ability to endure. It is a true blessing to be able to connect personally to our loving God, not one who is distant and far off but one who is right here with us and who promises to never leave us. The Bible has a lot to say about prayer. Here are a few of my favorites that I like to remember:
1) Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thes 5:16-18)
2) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Eph 6:18)
3) Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone unhappy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (Jam 5:13-16)
4) Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. (Mat 18:19-20)
5) Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. (John 16:24)
6) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Phi 4:6-7)
7) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (Mark 11:25-26)
Are you tired, worn out, overly burdened and ready to quit?
Do you feel like you are at the end of your rope; hopeless like no one hears you or even cares?
Are you worried about the future or are you wrestling with questions that just don’t make sense?
Are you grasping at things or situations that are beyond your control?
Do you wish something would just go right for once?
Prayer. It’s available right now 24/7. It’s a gift that no one can take away from you. Call on the one who loves you deeply, unconditionally and more than anyone else in all of creation:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 8:38-39)
Pray with a genuine heart. Our Lord Jesus is waiting to hear from you.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jer 29:12-13)
Hearing from God is also available to us through His written Word. The Bible gives lifesaving hope, provides a safe place of refuge (rest) and answers life’s toughest questions. It gives truth and life, wisdom and understanding, correction and rebuke, and teaches us about God’s character.
